Abstract
2-Ethylbutanol is excreted by rabbits as an ester glucuronide which was proved by isolation to be diethylacetylglucuronide. A small amt. of methyl n-propyl ketone is also excreted and this was isolated as the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone. Nearly 90% of DL-2-ethylhexanol is excreted by rabbits as alpha-ethylhexanoylglucuronide which was isolated and characterized as the K salt and triacetyl methyl ester. The results are discussed and it is suggested that ester glucuronides may be found from branched-chain fatty acids when beta-oxidation is blocked.Keywords
