Characterization of Ritodrine Radioimmunoassay

Abstract
A sensitive and specific radioimmunoassay method was developed for the determination of ritodrine [a .beta.-mimetic tocolytic agent] in human serum. Cross-reactions with 4 other .beta.-sympathomimetic drugs, various peptides and steroid hormones were checked. Serum ritodrine levels were assayed in 8 healthy nonpregnant female volunteers after either oral or i.m. administration of 10 mg ritodrine. Peak serum ritodrine levels were found 45 min after oral administration and 15 after i.m. injection.
