Abstract
After summarizing the essential elements of a gun-sustained spheromak, the potential for a steady-state reactor is explored by means of a comprehensive physics/engineering/costing model. A range of cost-optimized reactor design points is presented, and the sensitivity of cost to key physics, engineering, and operational variables is reported. Keywords
