Abstract
We have recently described a murine model for studying aspects of myelination (Seyfried and Yu, 1980; Ebato et al., 1983; Miskimins et al., 1986). This mouse shows hypermyelination during the period of most active synthesis of myelin, 9 to 21 days post‐natal. The myelin parameters showing an increase were all measured in the central nervous system. We investigated here whether this effect extends into the peripheral nervous system. Our results indicate that the hypermyelination is limited to the central nervous system. Keywords
