Thermooptical effects observed in CdSxSe1−x semiconductor doped glasses

Abstract
Thermooptical effects have been found to play an important role in CdSxSe1−x semiconductor doped glasses. The laser energy absorbed by the semiconductor microcrystals increases the local temperature of the glass, thus changing the optical properties of the medium. A thermal model has been developed to explain the experimental hysteresis curves and some other transient effects.
