Abstract
The theory and design of a new distance relay suitable for ground protection are described in this paper, and the results of 2 groups of extensive field tests are presented. These results demonstrate that the new relay performs in a manner that can be predicted mathematically, and that it avoids certain difficulties involved in the application of conventional distance relays to ground protection. Keywords
