THERAPEUTIC INTEGRATION OF CANCER OF THE LARYNX

Abstract
The characteristics of 149 cases of carcinoma of the larynx and laryngopharynx are analyzed. Special importance has been placed on the smoking habits. The components of this habit have been submitted to the regression and correlation analysis in order to measure their individual influence upon the phenomenon of the cancerogenesis of these tumors. It is supposed that these influences are probably modulated by biologic parameters and perhaps are only valid for the studied population. The therapeutic criteria are described. The clinical results obtained are estimated by the actuarial method of Berkson-Gage.2 The salvage rate at 5 years is shown according to the different anatomic sites of the cases in which radiotherapy alone has been able to produce healing of the tumor, making any surgery mutilation unnecessary.
