A note on the identity of the indophenol-reducing substances in brain tissue

Abstract
The indophenol-reducing substance (I) in crude [ox] brain extracts differs in certain respects from pure ascorbic acid but if the latter is added to an "inactivated" crude brain extract the properties of the resulting solution resemble those of the crude brain extract. There is therefore no reason to believe that I in crude brain extracts is other than ascorbic acid.
