Abstract
There are at least 2 amino pools for leucine and for valine in the soybean hypocotyl, a small protein precursor pool and a large inactive pool. The precursor pool decreased in size during incubation of excised hypocotyls presumably because the cotyledonary sources of amino acids had been removed. The precursor pool was subject to expansion by supplying the amino acid externally at high concentrations. After the transfer of tissue to unsupplemented media, the expanded pool was rapidly depleted. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
