Abstract
Swiss white mice were actively immunized against listeriosis by the intra-abdominal or subcutaneous injection of sublethal doses of viable Listeria. The level of immunity varied with the route of challenge. The immune animals were most resistant to intra-abdominal challenge, less resistant to intravenous or intranasal administration and least intra-cerebral injection. Antibodies could not be detected in the serum of immune animals by agglutination, precipitation, complement fixation or by passive transfer. Keywords
