Abstract
Frederic Charles Bartlett was the first Professor of Experimental Psychology in the University of Cambridge. As such he exerted a crucial influence over the development of the subject throughout the whole country: his students staffed the newer departments which have since arisen, and his approach has coloured all subsequent research in England. His role in the subject was therefore unique. Keywords
