Acute venous thrombosis

Abstract
Thrombosis in a superficial vein is easy to diagnose because it occurs most often in a varicose vein that can be felt or even seen. Thrombosis in a deep vein is more difficult to diagnose because it is often asymptomatic, and it is much more serious because of its possible complications. The authors review diagnostic methods, recent modifications in treatment recommendations, and prevention of recurrence.
