Extrinsic Curvature and the Einstein Constraints

Abstract

The Einstein initial-value equations in the extrinsic curvature (Hamiltonian) representation and conformal thin sandwich (Lagrangian) representation are brought into complete conformity by the use of a modified decomposition of symmetric tensors.
