Abstract
A new species of gymnostome, Urotricha vitrea n. sp., is proposed. The morphological characterization of this new freshwater ciliate is as follows: 46-27 .mu.m .times. 43-26 .mu.m in size; a spherical macronucleus; 20-23 somatic kineties; a caudal cilium; brosse with 4, 3, 2 rows of pairs of kinetosomes; and circumoral infraciliature with 13-16 pairs of kinetostomes. In addition, the conjugation process of this species is reported. It includes three maturation divisions and three synkaryon divisions. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
