Abstract
This article examines the strengths and weaknesses of telephone versus face-to-face surveys on the physical abuse of women by men in the context of marriage and other intimate romantic relationships. Although the nature of the evidence permits only a tentative conclusion, the evidence suggests that telephone surveys on this sensitive subject compare favorably with face-to-face surveys when a representative sample and a good quality of data are needed-the chief concerns of most surveys. Keywords
