Abstract
We construct, in the style of Dirac, the square root of the lattice Laplacian. The resulting action is chiral invariant for zero mass. In four dimensions, fermions are packed 16 times more densely per gluon degree of freedom than in the Kogut-Susskind action. The naive continuum limit manifests a fourfold degeneracy. Keywords
