Abstract
Plasma testosterone was determined in 4 cases of female trans-sexualism under virilizing therapy with various testosterone preparations. Testosterone oenanthate and a mixture of testosterone esters gave adequate plasma values (above 0.40 μg/100 ml) of 2–4 weeks duration. Rectal application of 50 mg non-esterified testosterone gave normal male values lasting for about 12 hours. Sublingual application of 17α-methyl-testosterone did not bring about a rise in plasma testosterone. Keywords
