Abstract
The first order phase transition in an infinite system of gravitating fermions is analyzed in the canonical ensemble. Except for the question of nonmonotonicity of the mass distribution as a function of the chemical potential, we give an analytical proof for the existence of the phase transition. A single phase region is shown to exist for temperatures high compared to the gravitational energy. Keywords
