Abstract
First-principles calculations of the band structure of peptide nanotubes are presented. It is shown that these nanotubes are insulators with wide band gaps, and that they act as an inert vessel where foreign atoms could be incorporated; hardly any interaction takes place between the tube wall and guest atoms. Keywords
