Nucleoside Transport in Human Erythrocytes: Equilibrium Exchange Diffusion of Uridine

Abstract
A rapid, saturable exchange between internal and external uridine takes place in suspensions of human erythrocytes under equilibrium conditions which preclude net transport of uridine. Maximum rates for this process are several times higher than those for net inward flux of uridine.
