Abstract
38 dogs received a synthetic B complex-free diet. The positive control animals received B complex from dried brewers'' yeast at a level of 10%. The others met their B complex requirement by 7 or 8 of thiamine, riboflavine, pyridoxine, nicotinic acid, pantothenic acid, p-aminobenzoic acid, inositol, and choline. The incidence of paralysis varied considerably on the different deficiencies but was greatest in animals, receiving all the synthetic B complex factors. Paralysis was prevented by brewers'' yeast, cured by a water extract of yeast, and it responded to synthetic biotin. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
