Abstract
A Lekotek is a play library that serves as a resource center for children with handicaps and their families. Lekotek uses toys and play to stimulate developmental progress and to promote positive interaction between parent and child. This article addresses the Lekotek philosophy, its origins, and its growth in Europe and the United States. It also describes the program at the Evanston center, the first Lekotek in the United States.
