Abstract
Discussions of systematic desensitization have used learning terms loosely. This limits the usefulness of the learning concepts being applied in behavior therapy. It also impedes development of learning theory because of the lack of distinction in these discussions among possible explanations of the extinction effect of systematic desensitization and the arrangement of conditions likely to produce or facilitate such an effect. Keywords
