Abstract
A bioassay technique was developed using a rodent mite as the test organism. With this technique the true systemic nature of acaricidal action of orally administered Sevin® (1-naphthyl N-methylcarbamate) in poultry was demonstrated. The systemic activity lasted for only 1 to 3 days after treatment. Sevin was demonstrated in blood of treated birds by qualitative chromatographic analyses. Poultry tissues were quantitatively analyzed of Sevin following oral treatment of birds with Sevin. The maximum residue found in any tissue taken 24 hours after treatment of a bird at the rate of 150 mg. Sevin per kg. body weight was 4.1 p.p.m. in the gizzard. No detectable residues were found in tissues from identically treated birds sacrificed 5 days after treatment. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
