Abstract
A new mechanism of free charge creation in the singlet absorption region at low temperature in anthracene single crystals is suggested. At 77 °K an important photocurrent appears in both a and b polarized light, preceding the usual conduction due to free singlet exciton annihilation. This photoconduction is attributed to the interaction of charged defects with trapped excitons.
