Abstract
Subsidence of the El Mers and the Skoura synclines was suggested and data from echinoderms, pelecypods, brachiopods, and 25 ammonites support the idea and indicate that subsidence was slow and continual permitting the deposition of 3,000 meters of beds. The conditions of sedimentation of these deltaic deposits are similar to those of the dinosaur beds of Tendaguru in Tanganyika. The faunas are analogous to those of Arabia and Madagascar and are significant in studying the succession of faunas on the circumferences of the African-Malagasy continent.
