Abstract
Cortical afferents to the claustrum have been studied in 26 rabbit brains prepared by the Nauta and Glees methods foUow-ing a variety of cortical lesions. Of the 26 experiments 6 are presented in this report as evidence of the existence of anterior-posterior and medial-lateral organization in cortical projection upon the claustrum. This is noted to be similar to that of the corticostriate projection. In the rabbit, therefore, all areas of the cerebral cortex send fibers to the striatum and claustrum. In both these cases it has been found that the frontal cortex is related to a substantially larger volume of these basal ganglia than any other area of the cortex. Keywords
