Abstract
Cell cultures of rhesus monkey kidney were tested by the mixed agglutination procedure against a variety of human sera. Binding of antibodies was detected by an erythrocyte indicator system involving anti-gamma globulin antibodies. Positive results were obtained with anti-B sera of actively immunized volunteers and pregnancy sera with high titers of anti-B antibodies. Immune anti-A sera and sera with natural anti-B antibody gave negative results. Three passages of primary cell cultures did not affect the strength of the B-like antigen on any of the cultures. Absorption studies showed that the B-like antigen demonstrable on kidney cell cultures is also present in other organs of rhesus monkey. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
