Abstract
Increases in both R&D and unit production costs should provide greater economic incentives to collaborate in aerospace projects. Two hypotheses were tested: that rising costs lead to an increase in the number of collaborative projects and also to the number of partners per project. The results confirmed both these hypotheses when the 1960s were compared with the 1980s. Collaboration is likely to further increase with the EC single internal market and the opening up of eastern Europe. Keywords
