Abstract
This presentation will consist of a short review of the literature on the subject described by the title and a report of 4 cases in which treatment was given by personal acquaintances or by me. A fifth case is mentioned, which closely resembles those which terminated fatally. It is hoped that this study will stimulate interest in the subject and possibly lead to further research in this country concerning the cause of the disease. REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE Fatal granulomatous ulcerations of the nose and face have been described under various titles. In 1896 McBride1described a "case of rapid destruction of the nose and face." The following year Jones2described a case of "esthiomenic menstrual ulcer of the nose." In 1906 Fordyce3presented "a case of undetermined tropical ulcer involving the nose, pharynx and larynx, with histological findings."
