Abstract
A personal series of 41 cases of carcinoma of the large bowel seen in Uganda during 7 yr is presented. The relatively young age of the patients compared with patients in Western countries is discussed. Diet probably played no role in the etiology of the disease in this series. In carcinoma of the rectum the lesion is usually low, necessitating resection of the rectum, which the patients frequently refuse.
