Abstract
After treatment of orthorhombic (BaSi2 type of structure) bariumdigermanide at 40 kbar and 1000 °C in a belt type apparatus and quenching to ambient conditions a tetragonal polymorph (a-ThSi2 type of structure) is obtained. Its crystal data are: I41/amd, a = 0.4755 nm, c = 1.473 nm, zGe = 0.415.
