Abstract
Unfertilized ova were recovered from the reproductive tracts of 31 gilts, 2-10 days after estrus. Examination of the ova revealed 1 of 93 from the oviducts was fragmenting and 187 of 230 from the uterus were fragmenting. The proportion of fragmented ova increased directly with post-ovulatory age of the ova. Fragmenting ova contained 2-16 fragments often resembling normal cleaved ova, especially in the 8-16 cell stage. Keywords
