Abstract
Many genera of chalcid flies have been established on characters of specific value, or on characters present in one sex only. Thus, it is often impossible to make generic placements with certainty. This difficulty is obviated by eliminating most of the genera and retaining a few large genera, which can be characterized simply. Dirhinus Dalman (= Dirrhinus Dalman, Eniaca Kirby, Hontalia Cameron, Pareniaca Crawford); D. texanus* (Ashm.) and D. schwarzi* (Cwfd.) n. combs. (p.286); Epitranus Walker ( = Chalcitella Westwood, Anacryptus Kirby, Arretocera Kirbv, Platychalcis Cameron, Arretoceroidella Girault, Chalcitelloides Girault, Arretoceroides Girault).
