Abstract
This AWWA Task Group was appointed to consider the extent and severity of problems of water quality and treatment that are known to be, or are alleged to be, caused by the presence of nutrients in water. The task group members have made surveys and have gathered extensive information on the sources, effects, and chemistry of nutrients in water supplies. The nutrient‐associated problems in water quality and treatment are considered in this first report. In addition, this report presents the results of a survey of state health departments made by the Task Group to determine the extent and severity of these problems. Keywords
