Abstract
There is great irregularity in the behavior of the pollen tubes. Two equal [male] cells are often produced but more commonly a complex of many [male] cells, "sperm cells," is formed. These are occasionally differentiated into cells with distinctive shapes suggesting possible motility. Blepharoplasts, however, were not seen and the evidences of cilia were not conclusive. The many [male] cells of a single tube were found to fertilize a number of different eggs in a number of separate archegonia. The male cell complex is considered a reversion.
