A HISTOCHEMICAL REACTION FOR THE DETECTION OF OESTRIOL IN TISSUES

Abstract
A modified David reaction (David.K.: Acta Brev. Neerland. 4:64, 1934) suitable for the histochemical detection of estriol is described. The method is based on the fact that estriol, after treatment with concentrated H2SO4, is oxidized to a blue dye which on neutralization is changed to yellowish green, but is regenerated upon subsequent acidification. This reaction is specific for estriol.
