The Theory of Preparative Linear Chromatography: The Role of the Stationary Liquid Loading and the Column Packing

Abstract
The effect on the preparative efficiency of the amount of stationary liquid loaded onto a gas chromatographic column packed with either a nonporous or porous support material has been studied for elution development. In general, it is found that the percentage of liquid should be the maximum which the packing can hold and solute retention should be as high as possible. Similar conclusions apply to frontal analysis.
