Abstract
In this presentation to the annual conference of the Australian Medical Society on Alcohol and Drug Related Problems, held in Sydney, 1984, the outcomes of the Senate Standing Committee's 1977 report on drug problems in Australia are considered, seven years on. The report's success in attracting public concern to the abuse of alcohol and tobacco is highlighted. The need to pursue the issue of corporate sponsorship is stressed.
