Dose-Response Studies of Gastric Pepsin Secretion in Man after Stimulation with Pentagastrin

Abstract
In 5 patients with duodenal ulcer the secretion of pepsin following a continuous intravenous infusion of pentagastrin in a dose of 0.005, 0.01, 0.1 and 0.2 μg/kg/min has been investigated. In every exanimation the stimulation was continued for 2½ h, and the examinations were carried out on different days. The maximal secretion of pepsin was found after a dose of pentagastrin of 0.1 μg/kg/min.
