Discriminant analysis and structure-activity relationships. 1. Naphthoquinones

Abstract
Discriminant analysis was used to study the data for naphthoquinones as antitumor agents in 3 different animal tumor systems [mouse leukemia L1210, solid tumor and ascites sarcoma 180 cell lines]. In each case the most significant variables for classifying the compounds into 2 groups according to their antitumor activities were determined by a stepwise procedure. The usefulness of discriminant analysis in the design of drugs was discussed.
