Abstract
We present the results of measurements of the absolute Rayleigh scattering cross section for N2 at 10.6 μm. Based upon these measurements, the differential scattering cross section for unpolarized incident radiation was found to be (1.2 ± 0.7) × 10−33 cm2/sr. This is in good agreement with calculated values and with values extrapolated from data obtained at 0.6943 μm.
