Abstract
Natural sediments from a highly polluted (x = 3200 ppm As d.w.) and an uncontaminated lake (x = 24 ppm d.w.) were subjected to a continuous flowthrough (0.5 Id−1) of lake water in 10 1 aquaria and adjusted to different pH, Eh, oxygen and phosphorus concentrations in the overlying water. The chemical association of arsenic in the sediment was characterised, before and after the treatment, by a chemical extraction technique and by pore water analysis, in relation to pH, Eh and oxygen status. Keywords
