Abstract
Astrocytes of the primate [Aotus trivirgatus and Saimiri sciureus] and human optic nerve head were joined to each other by the gap junction type of intercellular membrane specialization as seen by EM. Although the precise function of these contacts was not fully determined, they may serve such diverse roles as adhesive bonding and intercellular electrical and chemical coupling. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
