Abstract
Experimental results are presented which reveal the important role played by nonlinear radiation or ponderomotive forces in laser plasma interactions. The existence of these nonlinear forces are clearly revealed by the properties of tenuous helium plasmas generated by focusing of intense laser beams. Keywords
