Abstract
To the Editor: In their Sounding Board article (May 22 issue),1 Miller and Miller suggest that our evidence2 for rationing in Great Britain was based solely, and erroneously, on the finding that fewer technology-intensive procedures are performed in Great Britain than in the United States. If the authors had read beyond the chapter summaries, they could not have made this serious mistake. In our study, we presented compelling, direct evidence of wide-spread rationing.
