Abstract
The increased threshold of hearing [in animals] following stimulation by a loud pure tone is greatest for test tones about half an octave above the frequency of the fatiguing tone. This effect may be related to the fact that many auditory neurons fire fast for a stimulating tone which is rather lower in frequency than their characteristic frequency.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
