Abstract
The effect of plural scattering on the technique of microanalysis using energy analysing microscopes is examined theoretically. The electron energy loss spectra of some two-component precipitate systems are used to show how plural electron scattering effects can give an incorrect or ambiguous microanalysis. By removing plural scattering effects from the observed spectrum, a more conclusive microanalysis may be made. Keywords
