Abstract
Salts of cerium, lanthanum, and thallium were added in varying conc. to the basal medium (1% Difco peptone and 1.5% Difco agar), and the toxicity detd. for 39 spp. All 3 substances were more toxic for bacteria than for fungi. The order of toxicity was approx. the same (0.0002-0.0012 M conc. preventing growth). Addition to the medium of Na2-SO4 or MgCl2 reduced the toxicity somewhat. Keywords
