Abstract
The phase shifts for scattering as a function of energy are known below about 10 Mev from previous phase-shift analysis work. New scattering and polarization data at 17.5 Mev and scattering data at 40 Mev make possible the extrapolation of these phase shifts up to about 40 Mev. This is accomplished by means of phase-shift analyses of the data, taken together with an analysis in terms of an effective two-body potential. It is found that the polarization in scattering is always large in this energy region. Curves are given for the angular distribution of polarization in the energy range 10-40 Mev.
